Professional Mentorship Program for MBAs
The Professional Mentorship Program (PMP) is a unique program that offers one-on-one executive-to-student mentoring to Leeds School MBA candidates. The program, initiated in 2009 at the undergraduate level, has been tremendously successful, doubling in size each year with positive feedback from students and mentors alike.
The mission of the PMP is to enhance the Leeds academic experience through hands-on learning, professional skills development, leadership opportunities, and creating connections and community among current students, Leeds alumni and corporate partners. The PMP provides an outstanding opportunity for Leeds MBAs to interact and network with the industry leaders and change makers they hope to become.
This 15-month program matches students with executives or high-level business professionals, the majority of whom hold an MBA themselves. We match students with mentors based on student preferences in functional area, industry, geographic location, gender and other interests. To ensure a quality experience for both students and mentors, the PMP provides workshops, training and additional support for participants throughout the program.
Who Are Our Mentors?
Our mentors represent all functional areas of business and a variety of industries, ranging from executives at Fortune 500 companies, to small business entrepreneurs and directors of non-profit organizations. PMP mentors serve as role models, coaches and advisors to our students, providing professional development training and exposure to their impressive networks.
We seek mentors with at least 2-3 years of post-graduate degree work experience or 10 years of total business experience. Mentors do not need to be a CU-Boulder alumnus, or be located in Colorado. Applications are accepted anytime, however students are assigned each January. The MBA mentor application is available now. Please go to the Programs Tab and select Join Now for the MBA Program.
Through an online application process, mentors are matched with a student who shares a career, industry, or geographic interest. Students and mentors agree to meet at least once per quarter, and are encouraged to interact more frequently as personal schedules allow. Please email leedsmentoring@colorado.edu if you have any questions.
Who Are Our Students?
Participation in PMP is open to all Leeds School MBA candidates with three semesters remaining in their program (including dual-degree students). Students in the program agree to attend program workshops and events, work with the MBA career management office on their resume and professional skills, and to serve as an ambassador of the Leeds School and the program. Students apply at the end of the Fall semester and, if accepted, are matched with a mentor at the beginning of their second semester.
The MBA PMP student application is now open through Thanksgiving 2024!
